A large vintage handmade jewellery box with a striking marquetry inlaid feature and a fully refurbished interior.

This is a beautiful large vintage jewellery box with fabulous inlay and a fully refurbished interior! It is a one-off bespoke handmade box which dates to the 1970s/1980s.
The Exterior
This box is made of various woods. The lid has a lovely burl wood veneer panel with a large oval marquetry inlaid panel in the centre. This is a beautiful large striking feature.
The box is handmade and has nice dovetail joints. It also has solid brass hinges.
The bottom of the box has a new felt covering.
At some point in the box's history, the bottom left screw of the left hinge has been replaced.
Please note this is a very solid heavy box. The box tips backwards when the lid is opened due to its weight, and will do so until the compartment is fully filled with jewellery. A heavy object could be placed inside the box to stabilise it if neccessary.
The Interior
The interior has been newly refurbished by ourselves. The base of the compartment has a new velvet panel which is padded and provides cushioned protection for jewellery. The walls of the compartment have quality paper linings which feature leafy twigs and dragonflies in flight. The inside of the lid has a paper lining also, featuring a variety of ferns and other leaves.
The compartment is spacious and deep enough for large pieces of jewellery such as broad bangles, watches and chunky beads, etc.
The New Panel/Linings
All of these are completely handmade/accurately measured and cut, in order to fit the compartment and lid perfectly.
The velvet is high-quality premium cotton velvet. This has a plush short pile and a lovely tight weave.

Condition
This box is in lovely condition for its age! It has sound structure and only minor light wear, commensurate with age and honest use. Being handmade it has a rustic feel.
The interior panel and linings, being new, are in immaculate unworn, unused condition.
