A small 1920s Art Deco jewellery box with a faux snakeskin finish. The interior has three compartments and two ring storage sections, all with their original velvet linings.

This is a nicely lined small Art Deco jewellery box with a faux snakeskin finish. It dates to the 1920s and has multiple compartments.
The Exterior
This box has a faux beige snakeskin covering and a secure polished gold base metal catch. You release the catch by sliding its left button downwards. Please note there is no key for the lock but the catch itself securely closes the lid.
The Interior
The interior has a storage tray at the top which has two compartments and two ring storage sections. The tray slides forward via cantilever hinges, revealing a further larger single compartment beneath.
The compartments and ring storage have their original sage green velvet linings and the top two compartments have their original velvet pads. The inside of the lid has its original brown watered silk lining.
Condition
This box is in fair condition for its 100 years of age. It has sound structure and the catch and hinges are in good working order.
The faux snakeskin has some age related mottling and wear. There is a small split on the bottom left end fold of the lid. This has occured due to the opening and closing of the lid over time. Please see the photo provided.
The interior velvet linings and pads are in good condition. They are still securely seated and have only minor light wear.
There is some friction wear to the bottom of the box, mainly around the edges.
