A lovely 1920s faux leather antique jewellery box with a working lock. The interior is complete with its original padded velvet and silk panels.

This is a lovely English antique jewellery box with a blue faux leather finish. It dates to the 1920s Art Deco period and has a working lock and key.
The Exterior
This box has a blue faux leather covering and its original brass hinges and working lock. It has a functional replacement key which comes from the same sort of period as the box itself. The hinges are quality 'stop hinges' that hold the lid upright. The brass lock is also of a lovely quality and is stamped 'ENGLISH LEVER'.
The Interior
The interior has a removable tray at the top and a further larger compartment beneath. The tray has two good sized storage compartments, as well as a ring storage section between these. These two compartments are an ideal size for storing slender bangles and watches, bracelets and chains, brooches, lockets, pendants and necklaces. The larger lower compartment is deeper and roomier. It will hold a good amount of jewellery including larger pieces such as broad bangles/watches and chunky beads. Please see the measurements given below.
All of the compartments, plus the ring storage section, have their original padded blue velvet panels. These provide cushioned protection for jewellery.
All of the interior walls plus the exterior of the tray, are also finished with blue faux leather.
The inside of the lid has its original padded silk panel. This has a beautiful ruched design and the silk is a lovely silver/light grey colour.
Condition
This box is still in very good condition for its 100 years of age. It has sound structure and only minor light wear to the exterior faux leather.
The interior velvet panels are still in remarkably good condition for their age. They are still securely fitted and have no splits or fraying. The majority of the velvet is clean and its colour is good apart from some minor fading around the edges of the panels. There are a few small marks that are not very noticeable.
Similarly, the silk panel is still in really nice condition, also securely fitted and with no splits or fraying. It has an aged variation of colour and some teeny speckles of foxing, neither of which spoils its beautiful overall appearance.
The hinges are still in excellent working order and the box locks well with its replacement key.
