Lovely Arts & Crafts jewellery chest, made during the Art Nouveau period. Circa 1890/1900. Beautifully carved features. Three drawers which are newly refurbished with padded velvet panels.

This is a lovely antique jewellery chest in the form of a miniature chest of drawers. It is a fabulous handmade Arts & Crafts chest, made during the Arts & Crafts movement of the Art Nouveau period. It dates to 1890/1900.
The Exterior
This chest is made of beautiful solid Oak which has a deep rich colour and lovely figuration.
The drawers have solid Oak panelled fronts with carved decoration and beautifully turned solid Oak knobs. The tips of these have small decorative brass finials.
There are beautifully carved pillars/columns on either side of the drawers.
There is a beautiful stepped design to the edges of the top and the chest has a lovely plinthed base, again with a stepped finish to the edges.
The chest stands raised on its original squat bun feet at the front and replacement dowel feet to the rear.
The Drawers Interiors
The interiors of all three drawers have been beautifully refurbished by ourselves. The base of each has a new lightly padded dusky pink 'antique rose' velvet panel. The padding provides cushioned protection for jewellery. The velvet is premium cotton velvet. It has a plush short pile and a nice tight weave.
Condition
This beautiful chest is still in very good condition. It has sound structure and very little wear, despite its 120/130 years of age.
The interior velvet linings, being new, are in immaculate unused unworn condition.
