Beautiful 1950s vintage musical jewellery box, made in Sorrento, Italy. Beautiful marquetry inlay. Original quilted silk panels and linings.

This is a beautiful vintage musical jewellery box. It was made in Sorrento, Italy and it dates to the 1950s.
The Exterior
This box has beautiful marquetry inlay on the lid and all four sides which features lovely foliage and mythical winged creatures. It also has a decorative inlaid frame on the lid and matching inlay to the feet.
The box has an interesting locking mechanism. It locks and unlocks by sliding the raised diamond feature on the lid, backwards and forwards.
The lid is complete with its original brass piano hinge.
The Interior
The interior has its original quilted silk panels and silk linings. The musical movement is concealed to the left of the storage compartment. The silk is a lovely powder blue shade.
The Musical Movement
The musical movement plays a cheerful bright tune, the name of which is unknown.
Operating The Movement
Five turns of the key are sufficient to wind up the musical movement. The music stops as it should, when the lid is closed or when the movement has fully unwound.
Notes On Vintage Musical Movements
As with all musical boxes, care should be taken not to overwind the movement. Over winding will result in the movement malfunctioning.
Vintage movements are already old and will naturally have some wear from age and use. They may occasionally deteriorate or malfunction over time.
We are not responsible for movements that may deteriorate/malfunction from further age and use once a box is purchased. Neither are we responsible for movements that malfunction from overwinding.
Please check the movement and lock as you receive your box. It will be checked again prior to posting.

Condition
This lovely old box is in good condition. It is structurally sound and free from damage.
All of the inlay is present and intact. There is some minor fading to the veneer on the lid.
The interior linings have some minor age related wear and discolouration as we'd expect with a box of this age.
The hinge is still in perfect working order and the box locks securely.

Please note that we cannot deliver to international PO boxes as we use a secure insured postal service that requires a signature.
