Beautiful vintage Anglo Indian jewellery box. Superb carved Sandalwood panels and intricate miniature mosaic inlay. Newly refurbished velvet lined interior.

This is a lovely small vintage Anglo Indian jewellery box dating to the 1950s. It has a beautiful newly refurbished interior.
The Exterior
This box is made of Sandalwood and has both beautiful inlay and carved decoration.
There is a superb hand carved Sandalwood panel on the lid and further carved Sandalwood panels to the sides. The panel to lid features a beautiful pillared gateway, a willow type tree and leaves. The panels on the sides feature rows of leaves. There is a vast amount of intricate detail to all of these beautiful panels.
There is also miniature mosaic inlay to the lid. This intricate mosaic inlay decoration is known as 'Sadeli'. Each little piece of the mosaic inlay is painstakingly positioned by hand. The inlay consists of Mother of Pearl and Rosewood.
There is also inlaid Rosewood veneer, inlaid bone stringing, and bone edges to the lid.
As you can see there is an abundance of high-quality workmanship on this box.
The bottom of the box has its original felt covering. This will protect the surfaces of furniture.
The Interior
The interior has a single storage compartment. The compartment and the inside of the lid have been newly refurbished by ourselves. There are new quality blue paper linings to the walls of the compartment, and new premium royal blue velvet panels to the base of the compartment and inside of the lid. The base panel is padded, providing cushioned protection for jewellery.
Condition
This box is in very fair condition for its age. All of the mosaic inlay is still present and intact and there is no damage to any of the carved Sandalwood panels. The carvings on these are still beautifully crisp.
There is a fine strip of Rosewood veneer missing to the left side of the lid. This isn't overly noticeable as the area has been sympathetically stained.
The interior linings are in immaculate unused/unworn condition, being new.
