Beautiful hexagonal jewellery box with an Arts & Crafts inspired design. Veneered with a variety of woods. Handmade and stamped by the artisan.

This is a beautiful gem set jewellery box, veneered with a variety of woods. It is handmade by an Artisan who stamped the box with his name and the year the box was made. The box dates to 2006 and its design is a modern interpretation of Arts & Crafts from the Art Nouveau period. It is likely a one-off bespoke box.
The Exterior
The exterior of the box is beautifully veneered with 3 varieties of wood. It has an eye-catching hexagonal shape.
The lid has 6 individual pieces of Mahogany veneer, beautifully positioned to create a concave hexagon pattern. This resembles the shape of a spider web. Surrounding this pattern are 6 pieces of arc-shaped Satinwood veneer. To the centre of the lid, there are 6 petal-shaped pieces of veneer, which have created a beautiful flower. There is a faceted, faux clear crystal, in the centre of the flower, set within a polished gold metal band. This is placed upon a circular piece of Mahogany veneer. The petals appear to be another variety of Satinwood.
The body of the box is entirely veneered with Mahogany.
All of the veneers have a beautiful grain and the Satinwood has a lovely shimmer.
The box has a decorative polished brass clasp which keeps the lid securely closed. It also has polished brass hinges.
The bottom of the box has a green felt covering which will protect the surfaces of furniture.
The Interior
The interior has 5 nicely partitioned storage compartments. There is a central circular compartment, surrounded by 4 irregular pentagon-shaped compartments. The compartments are laid out in a decorative symmetrical fashion and each is ideal for keeping different types of jewellery separate.
The compartments have green felt linings which complement the covering on the bottom of the box.
The inside of the lid bears the makers stamp T OLDHAM and the date 2006.
Condition
This beautiful box is in excellent condition. It has sound structure and very little wear.
All of the veneers are securely seated, set beautifully flush against one another.
All of the interior linings are neatly fitted. They are in lovely clean condition and have no splits.
The hinges and clasp are in excellent working order.
