Beautiful 1950s musical jewellery box with carved flowers and its original silk linings. The box was made in the Black Forest region and it plays the beautiful Waltz tune 'Fascination'.

This is a lovely retro musical jewellery box, dating to the 1950s. It was made in the Black Forest region and has a Swiss musical movement that plays 'Fascination' - a Waltz from the turn of the 20th century.
The Exterior
This box is made of solid wood. The exterior has been beautifully finished with stains that graduate from light to dark.
The lid has beautifully carved wildflowers which include an Edelweiss. These are raised upon a textured, stippled background and surrounded by a beautifully shaped frame.
There is a decorative carved lip to the front of the box which enables you to lift the lid up with ease. A further, purely decorative, matching carved lip is beneath this.
The box is complete with its original stop hinges which hold the lid upright. It stands raised on new beautifully turned bun feet which have been stained to complement the colour of the box. These have replaced the original damaged feet.
The bottom of the box has retained its original tune title label.
The Interior
The interior has a single storage compartment and the musical movement is cased to the left of this. The entire interior has its original silk linings and silk panels. These are a beautiful light powder blue/grey shade and they have a lovely shimmery shine. The panels to the base of the compartment and inside of the lid are lightly padded, providing cushioned protection for jewellery.
The Musical Movement
The Swiss movement plays the beautiful Waltz tune 'Fascination', composed by Fermo Dante Marchetti in 1904. Source: Wikipedia.
The movement is in perfect working order. The music stops as it should, when the lid is closed or when the movement has fully unwound.
Operating The Musical Movement
The movement is operated via the winding key on the bottom of the box. Four turns of the key are sufficient to fully wind up the movement.
Notes About Vintage Musical Movements
Care should be taken not to overwind the movement. Over winding will result in the movement malfunctioning.
We would like to make you aware that vintage movements can occasionally malfunction. They are already old and so will naturally have some wear from age and use.
We are not responsible for movements that malfunction from further age and use once boxes are purchased. Please ensure the movement is still working as soon as you receive your box. It will be checked again prior to posting.

Condition
This box is in very good vintage condition. It has sound structure and only minor light wear, commensurate with age and honest use.
The interior silk linings are neatly fitted and in lovely condition with no splits. They have only minor light wear and a few small marks. Please see the interior photo provided.
The hinges are still in perfect working order.
