This is a beautiful Art Deco jewellery box, dating to the 1930s. It has beautiful fully refurbished compartments and is in lovely condition for its 90 plus years of age!
The Exterior
This box has beautiful Walnut veneer which has superb figuration and a warm rich colour. There is a band of highly decorative Macassar Ebony veneer running down the centre of the lid and front, and wide crossbands of Walnut veneer on either side of this. The Walnut veneer panels have been beautifully positioned to create a lovely symmetrical pattern with the Walnut's figuration.
There is a stylish lipped handle to the lid that enables you to lift it up with ease.
The box has a stylish 'flat' streamlined design which was very popular throughout the Art Deco era.
The box stands raised on its original block feet and it also has its original high-quality retractable quadrant hinges.
The Interior
The interior has two compartments that have been newly refurbished by ourselves. The bases to the compartments have new padded royal blue satin panels, and the walls have new royal blue velvet linings.
The New Panels and Linings
All of these are completely handmade in order to fit the compartments perfectly. The padded panels provide cushioned protection for jewellery.
The satin is high-quality, premium Duchesse satin. This is a soft, yet thick and weighty satin, with a lovely tight weave and glossy shine. Its many layers of delicate fibres create its soft texture and fullness. It has a fuller body and is much more durable than thinner, cheaper satins. It is a luxurious satin that is often used for couture wedding dresses and high-quality home decor.
The velvet is high-quality cotton velvet with a short plush pile and tight weave.

Condition
This beautiful box is in very good condition for its age! It has sound structure and only minor light wear to the veneer. This is commensurate with age and honest use.
The interior panels and linings, being new, are in immaculate unworn unused condition.
