Beautiful small oval-shaped jewellery presentation box. Made of Italian hallmarked silver and with a newly refurbished velvet-lined compartment. Vintage, circa 1944-1968.

This is a beautiful small hallmarked vintage silver box with a newly refurbished velvet-lined compartment. It is a lovely presentation box for rings, pendants, charms or small pairs of earrings. The box was made in Milano, Italy, and has a full Italian hallmark as well as its maker's stamp. It is made of 800 grade silver (has an 80% silver content) - slightly lower in purity than 925 sterling which has a 92.5% silver content.
Hallmark/Age/Makers Stamp
The silver has a full Italian hallmark which loosely dates the box to between 1944-1968. It also has an 800 silver purity stamp plus the silversmith's maker's stamp P.SPOGGI. The hallmark includes the silversmith's registration number (374) and the two-letter abbreviation (MI) of the province in Italy where the silversmith was registered. The MI abbreviation is for the province Milano.
The Interior
The interior has been newly refurbished with dusky pink velvet linings.
The New Velvet Linings
All of these have been completely handmade to ensure they fit the compartment perfectly.
A quality premium velvet has been used. This is plush and has a beautiful tight weave. The shade of the velvet is 'Antique Rose'.

Condition
This box is in very fair vintage condition. There are no dings to the silver and only minor light superficial wear/light tarnish is present.
The interior velvet linings are in immaculate condition, being new.
