Beautiful 1950s vintage jewellery box with a stylish 1930s Art Deco inspired design. Lovely pale baby pink shade with contrasting black sides and lipped handle. Newly lined with complementary black velvet panels.

This is a beautiful 1950s vintage jewellery box with an earlier 1930s Art Deco inspired design. It has two velvet lined compartments and is in excellent condition.
The Exterior
This box is made of solid Lucite, an acrylic plastic which was invented in the 1930s by the American company DuPont. The box is predominantly a pale baby pink colour, with contrasting black sides and lipped handle to the lid. It has a stylish Art Deco streamlined design with beautiful curvature to the sides.
The bottom of the box is stamped Tallent, Made In England, Tallent being the retailer.
The Retailer
This box was retailed by the renowned jewellery box firm Tallent of Old Bond Street, London. Tallent's boxes were made in Southend by the firm Mansell's who later bought Tallent.
The Interior
The interior has two storage compartments. The bases of these have been newly lined with padded black velvet panels. The panels provide cushioned protection for jewellery and complement the black lucite.
The New Velvet Panels
These are completely handmade in order to fit the compartments perfectly. The velvet is high-quality premium cotton velvet. It has a plush short pile and a lovely tight weave.

Condition
This beautiful box is in excellent condition for its age. It has sound structure and no cracks. There is some minor light age related wear, only visible on the black lucite and under close scutiny!
The interior velvet panels, being new, are in immaculate unworn/unused condition.
