Beautiful vintage jewellery box from the Maldives. Crisply carved decoration to the lid and all four sides. Lovely velvety lined interior. This box will make a beautiful gift for someone who has cherished memories of being in the Maldives.

This is a beautiful vintage jewellery box from the Maldives island in South Asia. It dates to the 1980s/1990s and is in wonderful condition. This box will make a beautiful gift for someone who has perhaps Honeymooned in the Maldives or has cherished memories from a special holiday there.
The Exterior
This box is made of solid stained wood. The lid has a lovely shallow raised tier with crisply carved flowers in arched frames. It also has 'MALDIVES' in deeply carved lettering.
The sides of the box have a beautiful curved form and also have crisply carved flowers. These probably depict 'Lily of the Valley' flowers, with Asia being one of the regions these beautiful flowers originated from.
The box stands raised on beautifully shaped feet.
The box has its original stop hinges which hold the lid upright. It also has its original catch which securely closes the lid.
The Interior
The interior has a single storage compartment. The compartment and the inside of the lid have their original red velvety linings.
Condition
This box is in wonderful preloved condition. It has sound structure and only minor light wear.
The interior linings are in excellent clean condition with no splits or fraying.
