Beautiful antique jewellery box with a silvery grey lacquered finish and painted metal embellishments. The interior has its original watered silk linings.

This is a beautiful antique jewellery box with beautiful embellishments to the lid and front. It dates to around 1900. The box is probably French in origin, though the embellishments look to have a Middle Eastern/Egyptian influence.
The Exterior
This box is made of solid wood and has a silvery grey lacquered finish. The lid and front have beautiful gold metal embellishments, including a decorative keyhole escutcheon and engraved corner brackets. The embellishment to the centre of the lid has a beautiful domed three dimensional form. All of the metal work has painted blue detail.
The box is complete with its original hinges and lock. Please note there is no key.
The bottom of the box has its original metal feet and black leather covering.
The Interior
The interior has a single storage compartment. This and the lid are complete with their original purple watered silk linings and white twist trim.
Condition
This beautiful box is still in very good condition and has sound structure.
There is some wear to the lacquer in certain areas and a little loss of paint to the metal embellishments.
The hinges are still in good working order.
There is some minor wear and some stains to the original silk linings but these have no splits and they are still neatly fitted.
There is some wear to the feet and the covering on the bottom.
All in all the box is still lovely looking and has a genuine aged patina.

Please note that we cannot deliver to international PO boxes as we use a secure insured postal service that requires a signature.
