A beautifully refurbished antique jewellery box dating to around 1870. The interior has new padded velvet panels and high-quality printed paper linings. The box has beautiful Rosewood veneer and its original working lock and key.

This is a lovely Victorian jewellery box with a beautiful fully refurbished interior! It dates to around 1870 and is still in very good condition.
The Exterior
The box has lovely Rosewood veneer which has a rich warm colour and superb figuration. The lid and front have inlaid Mother of Pearl roundels plus inlaid pewter stringing decoration. There is also a complementary inlaid Mother of Pearl escutcheon to the keyhole.
The box is complete with its original brass 'stop' hinges that hold the lid upright. It also has its original brass lock and beautiful 'Georgian' bow key.
The bottom of the box has a new black felt covering that will protect the surfaces of furniture.
The Interior
The interior has a storage tray with multiple compartments and a larger single compartment is beneath this. All of the compartments plus the inside of the lid have been fully refurbished by ourselves.
The bases of all the storage compartments have beautiful new padded cream velvet panels.
There is a beautiful floral printed paper panel to the inside of the lid, and the walls to the inside of the lid and lower compartment have complementary printed paper linings. The floral panel is beautifully framed with new silver/grey silk cord trim. This has a decorative barley twist design.
The exterior and interior walls of the storage tray have a lovely stained finish and the bottom of the tray has a new green felt covering. The top edges of the tray have their original decorative pewter beading.
The compartments in the tray are of various shapes and sizes. The smallest are ideal for storing small pieces of jewellery such as rings, earrings, pendants and brooches. The larger centre rear compartment is ideal for storing fine bracelets, fine bangles, necklaces and chains. The beauty of having multiple compartments is that different types of jewellery can be kept separate from each other.
The larger single compartment beneath the tray is ideal for bigger pieces of jewellery such as beads, broader bangles and watches. Please use the measurements provided below to ensure it is roomy enough for your requirements.
The New Panels and Linings
All of these have been completely handmade to ensure they fit the compartments and the inside of the lid perfectly.
The plump padded velvet panels provide cushioned protection for jewellery. The velvet is plush and has a beautiful tight weave. Its cream shade was chosen to complement the paper linings.
The paper to the rear panel of the inside of the lid has a very decorative 'antique' floral print. The paper on the surrounding walls and also within the lower compartment, have the same colour and background print to that of the floral paper. This is a pastel grey/green shade.
The beautiful silver/grey silk trim was chosen to contrast beautifully against the paper.

Condition
The box is in very good condition for its age. It has sound structure and only minor light wear, commensurate with age and honest use.
The interior velvet and paper linings are in immaculate condition, being new.
The hinges and lock are in good working order. The key securely locks the box.
