This is a lovely Art Deco jewellery box, dating to the 1920s/1930s. It was retailed by Harrods and has a new beautifully refurbished interior.
The Exterior
This box has a beautiful black faux snakeskin finish to the lid and all four sides. The lid has a beautiful black and white natural banded agate, surrounded by a stylish gold plated frame. The agate is beautifully polished and has a lovely shine.
The box has a stylish 'flat' streamlined design and beautiful angled sides. These streamlined designs were popular throughout the Art Deco era.
The bottom of the box is stamped HARRODS LTD. LONDON.
The Interior
The interior has been fully refurbished. It has new black velvet panels to the sides and new printed cotton panels to the base of the compartment and inside of the lid. The printed panels feature beautiful poppies with scrolling leafy stems. They are padded, providing cushioned protection for jewellery.
The New Panels
All of these are completely handmade in order to fit the interior perfectly.
The velvet is high-quality premium cotton velvet. This has a plush short pile and a lovely tight weave.
The cotton poppy fabric is very pretty! This has a Liberty style and it contrasts beautifully with the black velvet.

Condition
This box is in nice condition for its age. It has sound structure and only minor light wear, commensurate with age and honest use.
The interior panels, being new, are in immaculate unworn, unused condition.
