Beautiful antique Edwardian box with a newly refurbished plush velvet-lined interior. Circa 1901-1910.

This is a beautiful antique Edwardian box with a fully refurbished velvet-lined interior. It has been lovingly converted from a cutlery box and is a great piece of social history! It is now a very functional box which makes beautiful storage for jewellery.
The Exterior
This box is made of solid English Oak. It has a stylish flat streamlined design and its original brass clasp which is beautifully engraved.
There is inlaid Ebony wood stringing on both sides of the lid, plus an ebonised finish to the front and rear edges of the lid.
The bottom of the box has its original thin black leather covering. The hinges are also original.
The Interior
The interior has been newly refurbished. It has new padded red plush velvet panels to the base of the compartment and to the inside of the lid. These provide cushioned protection for jewellery. The interior walls are newly lined with beautiful high-quality foiled patterned paper.
This beautiful refurbishment has given the interior a luxurious look and feel.
Age
Circa 1901-1910.
Condition
This wonderful old box is in excellent condition. It has sound structure and only minor light wear, commensurate with age and honest use. The Oak has been newly polished.
The interior panels and linings, being new, are in immaculate unused condition.
There are a few light surface scratches to the exterior Oak and some wear to the covering on the bottom of the box.
