The Interior
The interior has been fully refurbished by ourselves. There are beautiful new padded plush red velvet panels to the base of the compartment and inside of the lid. The interior walls have high-quality printed paper linings.
The New Panels and Linings
All of these are completely handmade in order to fit the compartments perfectly. The padded panels provide cushioned protection for jewellery.
The velvet is high-quality cotton velvet. It is beautifully plush and has a lovely tight weave.
The paper linings have a beautiful antique print that has a repeating flower pattern. This print was chosen to complement the Violet on the lid.

Notes About Antique Locks
We would like to make you aware that antique locks can occasionally malfunction. They are already very old and so will naturally have some wear from age and use.
We are not responsible for locks that malfunction from further age and use once boxes are purchased.
Please ensure the lock is still working as soon as you receive your box. It will be checked again prior to postage.
You can view our full returns policy which includes locks by visiting our Payments And Returns page.
Condition
This wonderful box is in very good condition for its 130/140 years of age. It is structurally sound and has only minor light wear. This is commensurate with age and honest use.
The hinges and lock are in good working order.
The interior linings, being new, are in immaculate condition.
Notes
There is a slight gap (affectionately known as a smile) on the right-hand side between the lid and body of the box. The lid occasionally needs to be pushed gently to the left, in order for the lock keep to slot into the lock. This doesn't affect the locking mechanism.
The lid is heavier than the body, partly due to the carved Violet upon it. The box will therefore tilt backwards when empty, but once filled with jewellery will stay upright.
