Large-sized Edwardian presentation box, circa 1901-1910. The box has deep storage and is suitable for broad bangles and watches or chunky beads. Textured leather finish and original silk linings.

This is a wonderful large Edwardian presentation box, dating to 1901-1910. It has deep storage and is suitable for broad bangles and watches or chunky beads.
The Exterior
This box has a deep black textured leather finish with an embossed gold border to the lid. It has its original stylish polished brass clasp which keeps the lid securely closed.
The box has its original brass hinges.
The leather has been recently polished.
The Interior
The interior has its original cream silk linings. It has a single storage compartment and a deep depth inside the lid. This, combined with the depth of the compartment, makes the box ideal for the storage/presentation of broad bangles and watches or chunky beads.
History
This box was likely originally designed for the storage of broad silver napkin rings.
Condition
This box is in extremely good condition for its 100 plus years of age. It has sound structure and only minor light age-related wear to the leather.
There are two arc-shaped indentations on the lid of the box. These are from where something heavy has been left on the lid for a period of time. The marks are not hugely noticeable and the leather isn't scuffed in these areas.
The majority of the interior silk linings are still neatly fitted and in good clean condition. They have a few small light stains which are not overly obvious. There is an old small ink spot to the silk which lines the front wall of the lid
The hinges and clasp are still in excellent working order.

20.5 by 9.7cm with a 1.9cm depth. The overall depth including the space inside the lid is 5.3cm (just over 2").
