A lovely Victorian jewellery box dating to 1890/1900. Lovely Rosewood veneer with superb figuration. Beautiful Mother of Pearl cartouche and escutcheon. Recent refurbished interior.

This is a lovely antique Rosewood jewellery box. It dates to the late Victorian period, circa 1890/1900.
The Exterior
This box has beautiful Rosewood veneer which has a rich colour and superb figuration.
The lid has an inlaid Mother of Pearl cartouche and the keyhole has a matching Mother of Pearl escutcheon.
The box is complete with its original brass lock but please note that this is not functional and that no key is present therefore. There are good solid replacement brass hinges which are in perfect working order.
The bottom of the box has a new green felt covering which will protect the surfaces of furniture.
The Interior
The interior has a single spacious compartment which is deep enough to store large pieces of jewellery such as broad bangles and watches.
The compartment and the inside of the lid have been refurbished in recent years with a soft plush purple felt like material.
Condition
This box is in very good condition for its age. It is structurally sound and has no nasty splits or cracks.
The Mother of Pearl inlay is securely seated flush within the veneer and is intact.
There is a small replacement piece of veneer to the right side of the lid.
The new interior linings are clean, neatly fitted, and have no splits or fraying.

Please note that we cannot deliver to international PO boxes as we use a secure insured postal service that requires a signature.
