This is a lovely antique Edwardian jewellery box with a fully refurbished velvet-lined interior.

The Exterior

This box has lovely Oak veneer which has a very nice grain and a dark stained finish.

The lid has beautiful bevelled edges and these have ebony and exotic shell inlays.

The lid features a decorative inlaid brass and ebony cartouche, and there is an inlaid diamond-shaped escutcheon to the keyhole. The cartouche is vacant and can be engraved with a name/initials/date if desired. Your local key cutter or jeweller will provide an engraving service.

The box has its original brass hinges that hold the lid upright. It also has its original brass lock. Please note the key is missing.

The bottom of the box has a new black felt covering that will protect the surfaces of furniture.

All of the Oak veneer has been newly polished.

The Interior

The interior has been newly refurbished. It has new padded plush wine velvet panels to the base of the compartment and to the inside of the lid. The interior walls are newly lined with beautiful high-quality 'antiqued' patterned paper.

This beautiful refurbishment has given the interior a luxurious look and antique feel.

The interior's top edges have a beautiful ebonised finish.

The New Panels and Linings

All of these are completely handmade/cut to size, in order to fit the compartment and lid perfectly.

The padded velvet panels provide cushioned protection for jewellery.

The velvet is quality cotton velvet. It is lovely and soft and has a deep red 'wine' shade. This shade was chosen to complement one of the colours of the paper linings.

The paper has a decorative 'antiqued' aged colour and a floral print with a repeating pattern. This paper was chosen as its design is similar to original antique box lining papers.
