A lovely antique Victorian jewellery box, dating to 1880/1890. Superb figuration to the Rosewood veneer! Fully refurbished velvet lined interior.

This is a lovely antique Rosewood jewellery box. It dates to the late Victorian period, circa 1880/1890.
The Exterior
This box has beautiful Rosewood veneer which has a warm rich colour and fantastic figuration. It has a high quality solid Mahogany carcass.
The keyhole has a very stylish teardrop shaped inlaid brass escutcheon.
The box is complete with its original brass lock and key. It also has its original brass stop hinges which hold the lid upright.
The bottom of the box has a new green felt covering which will protect the surfaces of furniture.
The Interior
The interior has a single spacious compartment which is deep enough to store large pieces of jewellery such as broad bangles and watches.
The interior has been newly refurbished by ourselves. The base of the compartment plus the inside of the lid have new plush burgundy velvet panels. The panel to the base is padded, this providing cushioned protection for jewellery. The interior walls have new red paper linings.
Condition
This fabulous box has no repairs or missing veneer whatsoever. It has obviously been very well cared for over the years by its previous owner/s.
The interior linings, being new, are in immaculate unused/unworn condition.
The hinges and lock are in good working order.
