A beautiful vintage jewellery box from Sorrento in Southern Italy. Lovely burl wood and Ebony veneer plus very decorative inlay to the lid. Original brushed felt linings to the interior.

This is a beautiful vintage jewellery box, made in Sorrento in Italy. It dates to the 1980s and is in wonderful condition.
The Exterior
The exterior has beautiful burl wood veneer and very decorative inlay to the lid. The inlay consists of several colourful varieties of wood and features a scrolling musical score sheet, a mandolin, an oboe and beautiful leafy vines and flowers.
The edges of the lid have a dark Ebony veneered finish which contrasts beautifully against the lighter burl wood.
All of the veneer has a gorgeous glossy polished and varnished finish.
The box has a polished gold metal piano hinge and stands raised on polished gold metal bun feet.
The bottom of the box has its original manufacturer's label.
The Interior
The interior has a single storage compartment which is complete with its original brushed felt linings.
The inside of the lid and top edges of the compartment have a beautiful Mahogany veneered finish. This too has a glossy polished and varnished finish.
Condition
This box is in excellent preloved condition. It has sound structure and very little wear.
The interior linings are clean and neatly fitted. They have minor light wear and a couple of little marks from previous jewellery storage.
The hinge is still in perfect working order.

10.5 by 10.5cm with a 3.4cm depth.
