A beautiful late Victorian jewellery box, circa 1890. Rich Mahogany veneer and a fully refurbished interior with new high quality velvet and paper linings. Working lock and key.
This is a beautiful Victorian jewellery box, dating to around 1890. It has a new fully refurbished interior and its original working lock and key.
The Exterior
This box has wonderful Mahogany veneer which has a rich warm colour and a polished finish. It also has a lovely stylish plinthed base.
The box is complete with its original brass stop hinges which hold the lid upright. It is also complete with its original working lock and key.
The bottom of the box has a new felt covering which will protect the surfaces of furniture.
The Interior
The entire interior has been newly refurbished by ourselves.
The compartment and walls to the inside of the lid have new 'antique rose' dusky pink cotton velvet linings. The panel to the base of the compartment is padded, providing cushioned protection for jewellery.
The back panel to the inside of the lid has a new high quality printed paper lining. This features beautiful Roses and has a lovely pastel pink/gray colouring.
The compartment is quite spacious and will hold a good amount of jewellery. It is deep enough to store large pieces such as broad bangles, watches and chunky beads.
Condition
This beautiful box is still in very good condition. There is minor light wear to the Mahogany veneer, commensurate with age and honest use.
The hinges and lock are still in good working order.
All of the interior linings, being new, are in unworn/unused condition.

We would like to make you aware that antique locks can occasionally malfunction. They are already very old and so will naturally have some wear from age and use.
We are not responsible for locks that malfunction from further age and use once boxes are purchased. Please ensure the lock is still working as soon as you receive your box. It will be checked again prior to posting.
