A beautifully refurbished antique jewellery box from the Black Forest region. Circa 1910/1915. The interior has new plush velvet panels plus new beautiful quality printed paper linings. The exterior has large hand-carved leaves and engraved detail.

This is a decorative antique jewellery box with a beautiful fully refurbished interior! It comes from the Black Forest region and is still in extremely good condition. The box dates to 1910/1915.
The Exterior
This beautiful box is made of Pine and features large hand-carved leaves that are made of Lime wood. All of the wood has been richly coloured with a deep warm mahogany stain.
The wonderful hand-carved leaves have been applied to the lid. These are beautifully shaped and have engraved 'veining' detail. There is further engraved detail to the rest of the lid and its edges have a decorative fluted design.
The body of the box has an engraved lattice design plus bands of engraving around the bottom which match that on the lid. This is on all four sides of the box.
The bottom of the box has beautiful bevelled edges and a new black felt covering that will protect the surfaces of furniture.
The box has its original lock which is no longer functional. There is no key supplied for this reason.
The box has its original 'stop' hinges which hold the lid upright.
The Interior
The interior has been fully refurbished by ourselves.
There are new dusky pink velvet panels to the base of the compartment and to the walls inside the lid. The panel within the compartment is padded.
There is a new printed paper panel to the inside of the lid which adds a beautiful feature to the interior. There are also new paper linings to the interior walls of the compartment.
The New Velvet Panels
All of these have been completely handmade to ensure they fit the interior perfectly.
A quality premium velvet has been used. This is plush and has a beautiful tight weave. The shade of the velvet is 'Antique Rose'. The padded panel to the base of the compartment provides cushioned protection for jewellery.
The New Paper Panel/Linings
Beautiful high-quality paper has been used for both the inside of the lid and the walls of the compartment. That to the lid features Hummingbirds in flight amongst various beautiful flowers! It has a darkish green shade with wispy white outlining and shading. The paper to the walls is off-white and has an 'antiqued' grassy print.
These papers were chosen to complement the box's Black Forest origins.

History
This box started its life as a large glove box.
Condition
The box is in extremely good condition! It has sound structure and very little wear, despite its 100 plus years of age. There is a scratch on the lid (left-hand side) which is superficial and not overly noticeable.
The interior new velvet panels/paper linings are in beautiful unused/unworn condition.
The hinges are still in good working order.
Measurements
