A beautiful 19th century Italian jewellery box with very decorative marquetry inlay to the lid and front. The interior has been fully refurbished with padded royal blue velvet panels and blue paper linings.

This is a beautiful antique inlaid Rosewood jewellery box. It was made in Italy and it dates to around 1870.
The Exterior
This box has lovely dark Rosewood veneer and beautiful marquetry inlay to the lid and front. The inlay to the lid features a beautiful urn of flowers, with a swag beneath and scrolling leaves and flowers on either side. Surrounding this decorative central motif is a frame of inlaid stringing and scrolling leafy flowers at each corner. There are further complementary inlaid flowers and leaves surrounding the keyhole.
The box is complete with its original brass lock and stop hinges. These hold the lid upright. Please note the lock is temperamental and therefore no key is being supplied.
The bottom of the box has a new blue felt covering which will protect the surfaces of furniture. It also complements the newly lined interior.
The Interior
The interior which has been newly refurbished by ourselves, has a single spacious storage compartment. This is deep enough to store large pieces of jewellery such as broad bangles, watches and chunky beads.
The base of the compartment plus the inside of the lid have new plush royal blue premium velvet panels. The panels are padded, providing cushioned protection for jewellery. The interior walls have new blue paper linings.
Condition
This beautiful box is in very good condition. It has sound structure and no splits or cracks. There is a tiny piece of inlay missing to the flower on the right of the central motif on the lid. This is barely noticeable.
The interior linings, being new, are in immaculate unused/unworn condition.
The hinges are still in good working order.
