This is a small antique Japanese box, dating to the early 20th century. It is the ideal size for the presentation of small pieces of jewellery such as rings, earrings and pendants.
The Exterior
This box is made of solid Antimony metal and is very weighty for its size. It is beautifully decorated with repousse flowers and a pretty butterfly. The lid has a quality hinge which is still in perfect working order.
Antimony was a highly prized metal that was commonly used in Japanese craftsmanship during the early 20th century. The artistry and skill of the Japanese artisan who made this box is evident.
The Interior
The interior compartment has been newly refurbished with new dusky pink 'antique rose' velvet panels. The base panel is lightly padded, providing cushioned protection for jewellery.
Condition
This box is in excellent antique condition. It has sound structure and no cracks or knocks.
The interior linings, being new, are in immaculate unused unworn condition.
