A beautiful unique solid wood jewellery box in the form of a grand piano. This box is the first made of several similar models and the maker, year and model number are marked on the bottom.

This is a superb handmade one of a kind jewellery box with the maker's name, model number and date seared onto the bottom. It is extremely well made and known to be one of only several similar boxes that all vary some way in their design.
The Exterior
This box is made of solid wood and has the form of a stylish grand piano. It has numerous details including raised keys, a board for a musical score, a rod to hold the lid upright and foot pedals. The lid has its original beautifully shaped brass hinges plus a brass hinged flap which closes down over the keys section. The musical score board is removable, allowing the flap to cover the keys. The piano stands raised on three beautifully turned legs. All of the wood has a protective varnished finish.
The Interior
The interior has a single storage compartment which is complete its original green felt lining.
Age/Maker/Model Number
All of this information can be found on the bottom of the box. It is inscribed J.A.L (for the maker J.A. Lancaster of Bradford), 1986 (the year the box was made), and NO 1 (the model number).
Further Information
There are known to be at least six boxes by this maker, made over a number of years. Each are in the form of a piano yet all of them vary in style and construction. This makes each box completely unique and this particular box is the first to be made by this very talented box maker.
Condition
This beautiful unique box is in very good condition. It has sound structure and only minor light age-related wear. The hinges are still in perfect working order and the legs are secure.
