Beautiful vintage Italian jewellery box with a burl wood veneer and floral inlay. The interior has beautiful crushed velvet linings and a Macassar Ebony veneer. The box has a working lock and key.
This is a beautiful vintage jewellery box. It was made in Sorrento, Italy and it dates to the 1970s. It is in excellent condition and is complete with its original working lock and key.
The Exterior
This box has a beautiful burl wood veneer and very pretty floral inlay to the lid. There is a lovely Mahogany veneered frame to the lid plus inlaid Ebony stringing to the inside of the frame.
All of the wood has been highly polished and has a protective varnished finish. It has a gorgeous glossy shine and a beautiful tactile smoothness.
The inlay features flowers and leaves and consists of several varieties of wood.
There is a pretty polished gold metal escutcheon to the keyhole.
The body of the box has beautiful rounded sides and the lid has a shallow pyramid-like form.
The box is complete with its original polished gold metal piano hinge and polished gold metal lock and key. The key still has its original tassel.
The box stands raised on its original gold metal bun feet.
The bottom of the box still has its original MADE IN ITALY foil label.
The Interior
The interior has a single storage compartment and two nicely angled ring storage sections. It has its beautiful original Champayne coloured soft crushed velvet linings.
The inside of the lid has very beautiful Macassar Ebony veneer. The same veneer is also upon the top edges of the storage area.

We would like to make you aware that vintage locks can occasionally malfunction. They are already old and so will naturally have some wear from age and use. We are not responsible for locks that may malfunction from further age and use once boxes are purchased. Please ensure the lock is still working as soon as you receive your box. It will be checked again prior to posting the box.

Condition
This box is in excellent vintage condition. It has sound structure and very little wear. It is evident that this box has seen very little use.
All of the inlay and veneers are present and secure.
The box locks securely and the hinge is in good working order.
The interior velvet linings are clean, neatly fitted and have no splits or fraying.
There is some minor tarnish/light wear to the gold metal bun feet.
There are a few minor tiny marks to the Macassar Ebony veneer on the inside of the lid.
