Lovely vintage musical jewellery box, made in Sweden in the 1970s. Mottled deep blue faux leather finish. The interior has its original soft dusky pink linings, mirror and ballerina. The box plays 'Love Story' from the 1970 romantic film of the same title.

This is a lovely vintage musical jewellery box, made in Sweden and dating to the 1970s,
The Exterior
This box has a lovely faux leather vinyl finish which is a beautiful mottled deep blue colour. There is an embossed silver frame to the lid and the box is complete with its original stop hinges that hold the lid upright.
The back of the box has an embossed BOX MADE IN SWEDEN stamp and design number. It was probably made by the Swedish company DESIGN PHILIPP who are renowned for their musical/faux leather jewellery boxes.
The Interior
The interior has two compartments, divided by a ring storage section. It has its original dusky pink soft brushed felt linings. The inside of the lid has its original mirror. A pretty embossed pattern is upon the lining on either side of the mirror.
The interior also has its original ballerina that twirls around when the musical movement is wound. She has a gold-painted body suit and a white net skirt.
The Musical Movement
The movement plays the beautiful tune 'Love Story' from the 1970 romantic film with the same title. This starred Ryan O'Neal and Ali MacGraw. The theme tune for Love Story was composed by Francis Lai. Later, lyrics by Carl Sigman were added.
Operating The Musical Movement
The movement is operated via the winding key on the back of the box. Seven turns of the key are sufficient to fully wind up the movement. The music stops as it should, when the lid is closed or when the movement has fully unwound.
Notes On Vintage Musical Movements
As with all musical boxes, care should be taken not to overwind the movement. Overwinding will result in the movement malfunctioning. Please allow the movement to fully unwind before rewinding. We are not responsible for movements that are overwound or for movements that deteriorate from further age and use once boxes are purchased.
Please check the movement is still working as soon as you receive your box. It will be checked again prior to posting.

Condition
This box is in lovely condition for its age. It has sound structure and only minor light wear, commensurate with age and honest use.
There are small splits to the faux leather at the rear of the lid - just at each end and from where the lid has been opened and closed over the years.
The interior linings are clean and neatly fitted. They have minor light wear from previous honest use. There is a small ink mark to the lining which covers the hinges. Fortunately, this is right at the end on the left-hand side and so it isn't overly noticeable.
The mirror is still in very good condition. It is still clear and has no chips or cracks.
