Beautiful 1940s/1950s vintage jewellery box. The lid has stunning Oyster cut Walnut veneer and a stylish polished chrome handle. The interior compartment has a new cushioned white felt lining.

This is a beautiful vintage jewellery box, dating to the 1940s/1950s. It has a beautiful Walnut veneer and is in excellent vintage condition.
The Exterior
The Walnut on this box has a beautiful rich warm colour. The veneer to the lid is particularly nice as the Walnut here has a special Oyster cut. It consists of four individual pieces, skillfully cut and positioned, to show off the stunning Oyster pattern in a symmetrical fashion.
The lid has a beautiful polished chrome handle which has a stylish angular form.
The box has a beautiful curved form and a stylish plinthed base. The bottom has a new cushioned felt covering to protect the surfaces of furniture.
The Oystering
The technique for Oyster veneer uses thin slices of wood branches or roots, cut in cross-section. The resulting circular or oval pieces are laid side by side to create various decorative patterns. The shape formed resembles an Oyster shell and hence the technique is known as Oystering.
The Interior
The interior has a single storage compartment. This has a new cushioned white felt lining which will protect the jewellery placed within it.
Condition
This beautiful box is in excellent condition with very little wear. It has sound structure and no nasty splits or knocks.
The interior felt linings, being new, are in lovely clean and unworn condition.
