Beautiful small vintage jewellery box with an Arts & Crafts inspired design. The lid has an inset pewter panel with beautifully enamelled Tulips. The interior has its original plush velvet lining.

This is a beautiful small vintage jewellery box. It has a late 19th century, Arts & Crafts inspired design and is in excellent condition.
The Exterior
The lid has a decorative inset pewter panel which has beautifully enamelled Tulips. It has lovely cut-out sections between the stems and large cut-out leaves. The leaves at the bottom of the pewter panel have beautiful engraved detail.
The enamel is in deep shades of blue and purple and has a beautiful glossy sheen.
There is high-quality moire silk beneath the panel which you can see through the cut-out sections.
The box is made of solid wood. It has a neat felt covering on the bottom which will protect the surfaces of furniture.
The Interior
The interior has a single storage compartment. This has its original plush black velvet lining.
The inside of the lid has a quality black fabric lining which conceals the underside of the pewter panel.
The Design/Age
This box has a beautiful Arts & Crafts design, with its panel being inspired by the architecture of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. These beautiful floral organic designs were very popular during the late 19th century, Art Nouveau period. This box was not made in the 19th century but it does have a good amount of age. It is at least 30/40 years old, possibly even older. Moire silk is seen most often on boxes which date from the 1930s to the 1950s.
Condition
This box is in excellent vintage condition. It has sound structure and very little wear.
The interior velvet is in wonderful condition, being clean and without any splits or fraying.
All of the enamel is present and intact.
The box has seen only minimal use, which is why it is in such lovely condition.
