Beautiful 1930s vintage jewellery box with a beige leather finish and velour lined compartments. Original brass lock and quality brass quadrant hinges.
This is a quality English vintage leather jewellery box, dating to the 1930s.
The Exterior
This box has a textured russet leather finish. It has a beautiful leather strap handle on the lid and a solid polished brass lock and catch. There is no key present but the box is kept securely closed by the catch. Simply slide the lock to the right to open the catch. The brass plate of the lock is stamped ENGLISH LEVER.
The box has high quality, solid polished brass quadrant hinges. These have curved arms which slide in and out of the box.
The Interior
The interior has a removable storage tray with two compartments and two ring storage sections, and there is a further single larger compartment beneath this.
The compartments of the tray have soft beige velour pads. The bases of all compartments, plus the ring storage sections and the inside of the lid, are all lined with soft beige velour.
The tray has a russet leather covering and pull tabs. These allow the tray to be lifted out with ease.
Condition
This box is in lovely vintage condition and is of sound structure.
There is minor light age-related wear to the leather as we'd expect on a box of this age, but no nasty splits or tears. The colour of the leather is still very good with no fading.
The catch securely closes the box and the hinges are in excellent working order.
There is minor light surface wear and light tarnish to the brass lock and catch.
The interior velour linings and pads are in excellent condition. They are clean and have no splits or fraying. There is one tiny pen mark to the velour on the inside of the lid.
There is minor wear and a couple of marks on the bottom of the box. This cannot be seen unless you turn the box over.

Ring Storage Sections:
Each holds approximately four rings depending on their sizes.
