Beautiful antique Mahogany veneered jewellery box, dating to 1880/90. Newly refurbished interior. Lovely Satinwood stringing to the lid.

This is a beautiful antique Victorian Jewellery box, dating to 1880/90. It has a newly refurbished interior and a new felt covering on the bottom.
The Exterior
This box has a beautiful Mahogany veneer with an inlaid bone cartouche and decorative Satinwood stringing to the lid. There is a complementary inlaid bone escutcheon to the keyhole.
The bottom of the box has a new felt covering which will protect the surfaces of furniture.
The box has its original brass stop hinges which hold the lid upright. It also has its original brass lock. Please note there is NO key.
The Interior
The interior has a single deep storage compartment. The compartment and the inside of the lid have been newly lined with durable textured paper. The paper has a fabric style appearance.
Condition
This box is in lovely condition for its age. It has sound structure and its hinges are in good working order.
There are a few old repairs to the veneer around the base of the box. There is a small amount of wear around the edges of the bone cartouche and escutcheon. This is honest age-related wear for a box of this age which has been loved and used.
The interior linings, being new, are in excellent clean and unworn condition.
