Lovely small antique jewellery box with a red leather finish and gilt trim. The interior has two compartments specifically labelled for Silver and Gold.

This is a small antique jewellery box with a red leather finish. It dates to the late Victorian period and has specified labelled compartments for Silver and Gold.
The Exterior
This box has a textured red leather finish with gilt trim along the edges. It has stylish shield shape brass escutcheon to the keyhole and is complete with its original working brass lock and key. It also has its original brass 'stop' hinges which hold the lid upright.
The Interior
The interior is also finished with red leather and has its original padded silk panel inside the lid.
There are two storage compartments with leather covered lids which are titled Gold and Silver in gilt italic script. These titled compartments are a lovely feature.
Age
Circa 1890/1900.
Condition
This box is in good condition for its age. There are some age related marks/wear to the leather. This is as we'd expect on a box of this age that has been loved and used for its purpose.
The hinges are in excellent working order and the box locks securely.
