This is a stylish German Art Deco jewellery box with a beautiful mottled leather finish. It is a small compact size and is complete with a period key.
The Exterior
This box has a beautiful glossy leather finish. The leather has a wonderful rich colour and an eye-catching mottled pattern.
The centre of the lid is raised and has a beautiful leather strap handle with fine stitching. The lid is nicely finished with gold decoration, with that along the edges being tooled.
The box has a polished brass lock and catch and is complete with a period key (not pictured). The box is kept securely closed by the catch and so locking the box is optional. The catch is released by sliding the lock to the right.
There is a black covering on the bottom of the box which has a leather-like texture and appearance. This has a tiny embossed 'GERMANY' stamp.
The Interior
The interior still has its original removable storage tray. This has three compartments and a ring storage section in the centre. There is a further single larger compartment beneath the tray.
The compartments of the tray and the inside of the lid have their original tan linings. These are made of a soft brushed material which has a suede-like appearance. The tray has a leather finish and pull tabs, with the leather matching that on the exterior. The pull tabs allow the tray to be removed with ease. The bottom of the tray has its original cream watered silk covering.
The lining to the inside of the lid has six leather slots. These would've originally held stick pins or tie pins.
The larger base compartment has its original cream watered silk linings.
This lovely old box is small and compact. It will hold a fair amount of jewellery and is small enough to use for travel.
Condition
This box is in very good condition for its age. There is minor light wear to the leather but none of this is unsightly.
There is minor wear to the interior linings, predominantly to those on the inside of the lid where there are some pin marks. This is as we'd expect on a box which has been loved and used for its purpose.
The lock and catch are both in very good working order.

6.3 by 3.6cm with a 2.0cm depth.
Ring Storage Section:
Holds three to four rings depending on their sizes.
