Beautiful vintage jewellery box with a velvet-covered finish and a glossy silver plated top.
This is a lovely vintage jewellery box, dating to the 1970s/80s.
The Exterior
The exterior has a burgundy brushed velvet finish and a decorative silver-plated panel to the lid.
The panel has a beautiful Victorian design. It features flowers and scrolls in high relief and this has given it a wonderful texture. The centre of the panel has a vacant section with a beautiful polished, mirrored finish. It can be engraved with a name/initials/date. This makes the box perfect for giving as a very personalised gift. Your local key cutter should offer an engraving service quite cheaply.
The box is complete with its original hinges.
The Interior
The interior has a storage compartment on the right and a ring storage section on the left. The right side compartment has a soft padded velvet panel in its base. The entire interior has velvet linings/coverings which match the velvet on the exterior.
The inside of the lid has a lovely clear mirror, and there is a nice satin ribbon between the lid and the bottom of the box. This prevents the lid from falling back.
Condition
This box is in very good condition. There are a few small areas where the velvet has worn, mainly along the top front edge of the box. The plate on the lid is in excellent condition. It is seated securely and has no dinks or scratches. The velvet to the interior is also excellent with no wear or marks. The mirror is perfect with no chips, cracks or scratches.
There are some indentations to the velvet on the bottom of the box.
