Beautiful antique Tiger Oak jewellery box with characteristic stripes. Inlaid Mahogany keyhole escutcheon and working lock. Beautiful relined teal blue velvet interior.

This is a superb high-quality antique jewellery box, dating to 1880. It is made of solid Tiger Oak and has a beautiful refurbished interior.
The Exterior
This box is made of solid Tiger Oak. This has beautiful characteristic stripes which gave this variety of Oak its name.
There is a stylish dark Mahogany inlaid escutcheon to the keyhole and the box has lovely dovetail joints.
The box is complete with its solid brass 'stop' hinges which hold the lid upright at 90 degrees. It is also complete with its original working brass lock. This is stamped SECURE LEVER. The key is a vintage replacement which locks the box securely.
The bottom of the box has a replacement felt covering which will protect the surfaces of furniture.
The Interior
The interior has a single deep storage compartment. This has been relined in recent years with beautiful teal blue velvet linings.
Condition
This wonderful box is in excellent condition with only minimal wear despite its age.
The hinges are in perfect working order and the box is structurally sound.
The lock is in excellent condition and has a very smooth mechanism.
The interior linings are neatly fitted and in excellent condition with no splits or fraying.
The front and rear bottom corners on the left side of the box have had slight knocks. These have been nicely smoothed and are not very noticeable.
