Vintage Italian leather jewellery box, dating to the 1950s. Stylish satchel like design. Complete with its original key.

This is a vintage Italian leather jewellery box, dating to the 1950s. It has a stylish satchel like design and is complete with its original key. The leather has faded over time to a beautiful tan colour. It was originally a deeper russet shade as can still be seen on the back and interior of the box. The fading is even and does not look patchy.
The lid has a nicely stitched carrying strap and the box has a solid brass catch.
The interior has two compartments at the top, and a further larger compartment beneath. There is a lovely ring storage section behind this. The top compartments open out to the side via hinged gold metal brackets.
There are beautiful high quality watered silk panels to all 3 compartments and the inside of the lid. The walls and bases of each compartment are lined with textured paper and so too is the bottom of the box. The paper has a leather-like appearance.
The top compartments have velvet pads to cover and protect your jewellery. The ring storage section beneath these has a padded velvet covering.
The box locks securely and the key still has its original paper envelope.
Condition
The box is in lovely vintage condition.
The watered silk and velvet pads are still very good with no splits or fraying. There are some marks to the silk from age and use but none of these are unsightly.
The leather has a few little marks here and there, also consistent with age and use.
The brass catch is a little stiff but makes for a very secure fastening!
